Summary:
The Senior Accounting Analyst is part of the Bank’s Accounting team and helps support the financial records of Broadstreet Bank. This role supports monthly close and reporting processes by recording, classifying, summarizing, analyzing, and reporting on transactions resulting from business operations. The Senior Accounting Analyst demonstrates knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, proactivity, multitasking, organizational skills, analytical thinking, and problem-solving orientation.
Responsibilities:
• Support month-end close and reporting activities. This includes, but is not limited to:
• Preparing standard and ad-hoc journal entries as required
• Reconciling balance sheet accounts in accordance with internal controls standards established by policy
• Prepare Financials and close out books for the bank making entries for activities directly related to bank products.
• Performing analytical procedures including investigation of unusual transactions or unexpected variances in monthly fluctuation analyses
• Performing research and providing financial analysis to management and other users of financial information
• Perform accounting and analysis related to the bank’s investment portfolio.
• Own the implementation and maintenance of effective processes and procedures for completing and improving work. Recommend process improvement opportunities to current accounting systems and processes.
• Assist with updates of policies and procedure documentation.
• Prepare audit work papers and schedules as required for the bank and work directly with external auditors, regulatory agencies, and internal auditors.
• Work cross-functionally with other bank departments.
• Work on ad hoc reporting, analysis and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education:
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting or Finance
Work Experience:
• 4-5 years of experience, ideally with banking or financial services.
Certifications:
• CPA preferred but not required.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Requires the highest level of integrity and sound judgment, especially when handling confidential or sensitive information.
• Requires strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting standards. Understanding banking regulations is a plus.
• Excellent analytical abilities with a strategic mindset and attention to detail.
• Ability to identify and implement process enhancements demonstrates strong business acumen and professionalism.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; able to explain complex financial concepts across all levels of the organization.
• Skilled in managing multiple priorities, meeting deadlines, and driving projects to completion.
• Capable of working both independently and collaboratively.
